Major Bantams Wrap Up Most Successful Regular Season in Team History
The Kings Mutual Valley Wildcats Major Bantam team wrapped up their regular season with two more wins this past weekend. On Saturday night in Berwick the Wildcats played an excellent team game and came away with a 2-0 win over the Joneljim Cougars. The Wildcats got goals from Connor Deluney & Cameron Whynot while Grant Sanford made 14 saves to pick up the shutout. The Wildcats outshot the Cougars 41-14.
On Sunday the Wildcats traveled to Yarmouth to wrap up the regular season with a match up against the Western Hurricanes. The Wildcats got off to a sluggish start and the Hurricanes took advantage and grabbed an early 1-0 lead. The Wildcats capitalized on a late powerplay to tie the score at 1 after the first period. Connor Deluney picked up the goal with assists going to Dylan Schofield & Owen Stockdale. After a scoreless 2nd period the Wildcats would score 3 times in the 3rd before the Hurricanes answered with a late goal to make the final score 4-2. Colby Ramsey, Jon Forsyth & Dawson Balsor were the goal scorers in the 3rd. Seth Routledge stopped 18 shots to earn the victory between the pipes.
The Wildcats end the regular season in 1st place in the NSMBHL standings with a record of 26-4-1-2, good for a team record 55 points. The Wildcats will now meet the Wear Well Bombers in the Best of 3 Playoff round. Game 1 will be held in Pictou on the weekend of February 25th-26th, with Game 2 taking place at the Appledome at 5:00 on March 4 and if necessary Game 3 at 5:30 on March 5, also at the Appledome.
