Major Bantams Clinch Top Spot!
The Kings Mutual Valley Wildcats Major Bantam hockey team clinched 1st place in the NSMBHL regular season standings with a 6-1 victory Saturday night over the 2nd place Landworks Gulls. The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 first period lead on a shorthanded breakaway goal by Colby Ramsey. Connor Deluney would score his first of two Power Play goals of the 2nd period to open up a 2-0 lead. Dawsor Balsor would score to make it 3-0 before Deluney struck again on the Power Play to make it a 4-0 game. Colin Parker would stretch the lead to 5-0 at the end of two periods with the Wildcats 3rd Power Play goal of the game. The teams would trade goals in the third period with Owen Stockdale scoring to make it a 6-0 game before the Gulls would get one back to make the final score 6-1. Seth Routledge picked up the win in goal for the Wildcats making 22 saves.
The Wildcats wrap up regular season action this coming weekend. On Saturday night at 5:00 PM the Wildcats host the Joneljim Cougars, before travelling to Yarmouth for a 2:00 PM game against the Western Hurricanes. The Wildcats will then take part in a best of 3 playoff series against the Wear Well Bombers. Game times will be announced shortly.
